Bo Ne (Steak)

Steak in a Vietnamese city is probably not going to be what you are used to having in Australia or America. However you can have a steak locally without paying restaurant prices.

Bo Ne is a smaller steak, normally served with a meatball and sometimes an egg on a sizzling plate that continues to cook the meat. It is normally served in a sauce that is very flavorsome. Accompanying it will be a salad and sauce of mayonnaise and chili, and if you’re lucky, a bread roll.

This is a very filling meal for the princely sum of around 70 000vnd. I tried something called shaking beef cubes the other night and this ended up being an equivalent of a stir fry. This was too much for me (a female) and the two of us finished it off. I think this could be easily shared between two people. The place we like to eat Bo Ne at is 116 Hoang Van Thu Street. Normal chairs with tablecloths however you will be the only foreigner there. Normal drinks of water, beer, some soft drinks are available. This is a busy restaurant but they are very efficient. Staff are very friendly.
